It makes a difference what system and beliefs you are coming from, not least of which is allowing people who have already made that journey from the same of similar system able to connect with you and share their experience. It also makes a difference where you are trying to go. Do you want to hold both sets simultaneously in tension? Merge them into a syncretic whole? Discard the old for the new?
There is probably someone here who can help you with any of those things - but as it stands your question is to broad and undefined for anyone to give more than trite answers.

Beliefs should neither be picked up, nor put down, arbitrarily. Examine what grounds you have for holding a belief, and then decide what to do with it. I do not generally hold my beliefs based on where they have come from, though obviously some beliefs necessarily follow one from another.
